The school’s palpable sense of community is unrivaled. Academic programs, extracurricular activities and facilities are purposefully designed to reinforce the bond of community that has been a hallmark of Westminster throughout its history. Longtime traditions such as the Chapel Program, family-style meals, the Lawn Ceremony, Candlelight, the Pin Ceremony, Hill Holidays and even stickball remain foundations of campus life.
Faculty members — who not only teach but coach sports, direct arts programs and serve as corridor supervisors and advisors — make a vocational commitment to Westminster in the support of young people. They help students develop character by fostering integrity, high ethical standards, leadership, mutual respect, tolerance and teamwork.
Ensuring that Westminster has the ability to recruit and retain exceptionally talented, dedicated and versatile faculty members is a key priority of the campaign. |
The Soar Together Campaign will fund opportunities for students to enrich their education by expanding their horizons. Rather than specializing in one or two areas, Westminster students are encouraged to get involved in many areas, on many levels. They learn to succeed in multiple dimensions through involvement in the arts, athletics, community service, study abroad, independent study and more.
The broadened perspectives gained from a Westminster education enable students to gain balance and an appreciation for making their community a better place. Such lessons prepare the kinds of people who are sorely needed in today’s troubled world. |
